The distinctive feature of Feldgendarms were gorgets with chains on the neck. Because of this feature, and also because of their professional duties, they have got a nickname "chain dogs". Motorcyclers wore special waterproof grey-green raincoat made from rubberized cloth with shoulder straps. Goggles were supplied for eyes protection, and gloves for hands.
